THERE IS STILL SO MUCH IN THE WORLD WORTH FIGHTING FOR. SO MUCH THAT IS BEAUTIFUL, SO MANY WONDERFUL PEOPLE WORKING TO REVERSE THE HARM, TO HELP ALLEVIATE THE SUFFERING. AND SO MANY YOUNG PEOPLE DEDICATED TO MAKING THIS A BETTER WORLD. ALL CONSPIRING TO INSPIRE US AND TO GIVE US HOPE THAT IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO TURN THINGS AROUND, IF WE ALL DO OUR PART. —  Dr. Jane Goodall

I write under circumstances that until recently were not imaginable. But let me begin by saying how much we miss our students at English Access Gauteng, and the family unity that we share. As we have never ever before experienced such a pandemic, the COVID-19 news comes to many of us as a shock, and emotions are running high.

Here in South Africa and around the world, all segments of society are reacting swiftly and strongly as we seek to stop the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. And we are pleased that South Africa has come together in solidarity and as a unity. EAG would like to take the opportunity to thank our health professionals, truck drivers, grocery store employees, first responders and all other essential operations personnel for their service.

To keep our current students engaged and learning, we encourage you to join our online classes to finish the current term. In terms of distance learning, the intention is not to replace the experience a student would have in his or her classroom, but to support them with continued learning while away from campus.

Our focus is for us all to stay connected, therefore please continue to follow us on our social media channels for engaging resources and content while you are in isolation.

We know that the uncertainty of school closures is stressful, but we remain focused on the health and wellbeing of our students, faculty and staff, and all of their families. We understand that these are difficult circumstances, but it is important that we all do our part to “flatten the curve” and keep our country and community safe.

Now is the time to consider what we are facing and plan accordingly. Despite all that we are dealing with ,I have faith in our future. Please do your best to keep yourselves and those around you safe and healthy as this continues to impact every aspect of our lives.
